OPCD Announces 9-1-1 Services
Have Been Restored to Normal After Reports of Outage
NEW ORLEANS, LA (October 7, 2019) – The Orleans Parish Communications District (OPCD) announces that 9-1-1 services have been restored after receiving reports of 9-1-1 outages in Orleans Parish.
During the outage, backup systems were immediately initiated, allowing OPCD to continue receiving 9-1-1 calls from residents and visitors within Orleans Parish.
“This is exactly why we have so many redundancies in place,” stated OPCD Executive Director, Tyrell Morris. “If one system fails, another on will activate, allowing OPCD to continue providing life-saving assistance to the citizens of New Orleans during emergency situations. We appreciate the patience of the people of New Orleans, and would like to thank Mayor Cantrell and the City of New Orleans for their unwavering support as we worked through this issue.
Citizens and visitors of New Orleans can continue to call 9-1-1 and 3-1-1 without interruption or delay.
