OPCD Receives Reports of
9-1-1 Outages in Orleans Parish

NEW ORLEANS, LA (October 7, 2019) – The Orleans Parish Communications District (OPCD) announces that it has received reports of 9-1-1 outages in Orleans Parish. Backup systems have been initiated, allowing OPCD to continue receiving 9-1-1 calls.

Residents and visitors of Orleans Parish are asked to continue to call 9-1-1 as OPCD continues working to resolve the outage issues. If residents and visitors cannot get through to 9-1-1 operators, they are asked to report to their nearest New Orleans Fire Station to receive assistance.

“Our first priority is the safety of the citizens of New Orleans,” stated OPCD Executive Director, Tyrell Morris. “We are working diligently to determine the cause of the issue and to resolve it as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we ask that people in emergency situations continue to call 9-1-1 as we are still receiving calls. If you cannot get through, then please report to your nearest fire station.”
